About Google Gemini

Google Gemini is Google’s state-of-the-art AI model suite and assistant, intended to facilitate conversations, generate text, research, creative writing, and business solutions across Google’s entire product range. Introduced as Bard in March 2023 and rebranded as Gemini in February 2024, Gemini marks Google’s attempt at creating a single AI solution uniting Google DeepMind and Google Research.

Whereas most other AI solutions start out with text data and are then modified to support other types of input, Gemini was created to be a multimodal system from day one. Gemini supports understanding and processing text, images, videos, audio, and programming codes. It can reason using multiple types of media, such as analyzing a video clip of a car engine together with a PDF user manual

The availability of Gemini has become increasingly widespread: a website app at gemini.google.com (available in more than 70 languages for over 230 countries); native mobile applications for both Android and iOS; Google Workspace (with Docs, Gmail, Sheets, and Slides); the Chrome browser; Google Search AI Overviews; and smart home speakers (replacing Google Assistant).

Key Features

Multimodal Understanding: Built-in capability to understand text, images, videos, audio, and code. Upload pictures of math problems, screen captures, PDF files, or YouTube videos for evaluation.

Research: Automated research assistant that spends several minutes analyzing websites, PDF databases, and online forums to produce detailed and cited research documents. Offered in Gemini Advanced (AI Pro) and Gemini Ultra plans.

Overview: Transforms research reports into podcasts generated by AI that make complicated topics easy to understand.

Gems (Custom AI Assistants): Develop customized AI assistants for recurring tasks using unique commands and training data.

Gemini Live: Chat live with AI using your voice. Utilize your phone’s camera to point out visuals while chatting with AI. Users must be at least 18 years old.

Google Workspace Integration: Sidebar and Inline Features in Gmail (email summarization, composition, and proofreading); Docs (text generation/edition and matching writing style); Sheets (analysis, table creation, and conditional formatting); Slides (generation of images/texts); Meet (transcriptions and call summaries); and Drive (summarization of folders and file search).

Image Creation and Modification: Native image creation using models such as Nano Banana 2 and Nano Banana Pro. The service supports modifications, remixes, and high-resolution images up to 4K.

Context Caching: Cache frequent context (for example, long texts, system instructions) for faster and more economical subsequent inquiries.

Google Search Grounding: Improves output with live data from Google Search and Maps. Minimizes hallucinations through grounding in current and reliable resources.

Integration with NotebookLM: The "Notebooks" module (rollout in progress) helps manage conversation inputs, references, and instructions within persistent notebooks. Up to 100 references (PDF, TXT, URL files) can be uploaded per notebook, along with global instructions applicable to all dialogues.

Coding and Agency Abilities: Jules (coding bot), Gemini Code Assist, Gemini CLI, and Antigravity for coding assistance purposes. This is offered with increased capacity on premium plans.

Videos and Audio Creation: Veo for generating videos (3.1 Fast on Plus, Pro, Ultra), Lyria for creating audio (30-second and 3-minute songs).

Personal Information and Reminiscence: Gemini will store your personal details to customize its replies (Personal Intelligence). Offered in premium plans.

Automated Screen Control: Gemini can execute tasks on your Android device screen based on your spoken requests (like "Find the email from last week regarding the flight"). A daily limit exists.
